If you desire a single cup holder in your Healey, here's an idea that may work for you.
Requirement is that your emergency brake lever in the off position, lays down completely. It must lay below the passenger seat cushion. For the cushion will keep the cup holder pressed against the transmission tunnel
This plastic single cup holder can be found at many auto department stores. It's adjustable by releasing a tab and sliding one end out. It will adjust to any size cup.
Of course, some modifications will have to be made to make it fit level over the emergency handle and fit snug between the top seat cushion and the transmission tunnel.
An extender with a v-shape at the bottom, will be glued into the bottom of the back end of the holder to make it level on the brake handle. The other end, front, will also have a v-shape piece glued that will rest on the front of the hand brake push button.
The front of the cup holder will also have a zip-tie that runs though it, in the shape of an 0-Ring. The zip-tie is made permanent in the shape of an 0-Ring. The bottom of the ring will slip around the emergency brake push button.
Installation and removal of the cup holder, about 10 seconds. When in place, the side of the cup will fit perfectly against the curve of the BJ8 transmittion and shift console
Attached are a series of photos that may help you visualize how to make and set up this cup holder.
Cheers, Roger
