Impressive!
Could you provide a few details on engine and turbo size and type and overall HP.
What do you do with all of that air - you must have a garden hose for injectors!

Wow! Is it street registered? How much is visibility from the driver's seat affected? I doubt you'll have too many people trying to impress you with their Hondas when you're driving that one. Looks like nice work. Pete

You need to get one of those stickers like on the side of jet engines that show the zone where you risk getting sucked in if you stand too close!

Motor is a Pontiac 455 and the turbo is a Garret TV75.
The turbo should pump enough air for about 850HP and even higher torque numbers.
With different heads and a 175HP shot of nitrous ( approx 600HP) the car ran a best 9.99 at 133 MPH in the 1/4
The maiden voyage with the turbo should be this weekend. I do drive the car on the street but I race it at the track.

I wonder what the Miata crowd would have to say about this one?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm a member of the Miata forum, and just posted a link to this thread and the one about the TR6 vs. Miata. Let's see what they say about it all. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Surely you have a narrowed Ford rearend on this thing.
This little beauty should qualify as a Triumph Funny Car.

Just curious, why did you choose Pontiac power? I had a 65 Goat, seams an eternity ago.

I do like the wet/dry air filter! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
You probably will need a grill over it to keep the Miatas off the filter. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The car has a 9" ford with a 3.00 gear which should be good for a little over 150 MPH. I chose a 455 Pontiac because I also have a 68 Firebird and as of right now the Firebirds motor is in the TR6, plus I like the old Pontiac's and its something different. The trans is a manual shift Turbo 400 with a trans brake.

How does it handle at speeds over 100 mph?

Hey, how 'bout a picture under the hood. I'd like to see that big engine shoe-horned in there. That car is incredible. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I attached a picture of under the hood.
The car handles real good up to around 130MPH, after that the car starts to get a little light feeling and the steering rack is too fast for these speeds.
When I attached the Triumph A-arms to my home built chassis I added 3 degrees of extra caster which I think helps a lot. I still need to add a rear sway bar and a front air dam so the car is a little more stable at speed.

WOW!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif I see that you have aluminium heads and water pump on there. That's got to cut down on the weight of that engine quite a bit. I noticed that the hub on the water pump is not a stock type. Does the manufacturer of those pumps press on any type hub and impeller you need??
