TR6 Opinions: best way to get 150hp TR6?

I just checked out Moss' site.

RE compression ratio and supercharging, they actually post a dyno from a 9.5:1 CR. From Moss web site:

"We installed a kit on a modified TR6 engine to get an idea of the horsepower potential. The engine had a slightly higher compression (9.5:1), a mild cam, and oversize valves. We installed our big boost kit which puts out about 8 p.s.i. The car was tested on the same dyno we used for the graph on the left. Check out the results by clicking on the following link."

Still curious about the sound, especially since another con of this option is the cost...

Try searching YouTube, there were several of them on there.

IMO, if a Roots-type (eg the Eaton) blower is making enough noise to hear, there is something wrong with it. With some 80,000 miles on it, the Eaton blower on my buddy's Miata is just starting to make enough noise to hear; only when under boost. But with the priority valve, it only makes boost when you're on the loud pedal (and his exhaust is a lot quieter than my TR3).

I think even with the trips set up the guys running them are only pushing 140.

Run a trick PI system. It'll get you there. Might not be able to drive in on the road very well.
Even the Stock PI's were hard to drive.

What PI systems are options these days? I have always wondered why more people don't run the UK system, but have heard hints of reliability...

Hmm, in the ones I found you can hardly hear the supercharger at all... I'll poke around as suggested for some first-hand experience.

With a decent computer you can replace injector with bigger and increase fuel flow to in. Change the gears to the SC. ADD big valves, open up the ports.

You probably could do some real HP

'm just thinkin. I'm not anything close to one who would know

Biggest distinction is the venturi, which always impedes airflow to some extent. But EFI is also a lot easier to tune for optimum mixture under varying conditions, which translates to more power.

Personally, I'd go for port injection instead of TBI, so you can compensate for any problems with uneven fuel/air distribution caused by a less-than-optimum intake manifold design. Fuel is heavy and tends not to make corners as well as air does. Also means you don't have fuel running through the blower. But it does add more complexity.

Better do some serious bottom end work with a billet crank and line boring if you are going to try to get to 150 with supercharging or anything else.

Is the crank etc different than the 150HP brit PI version? I had been figuring everything is designed for 150HP as a result.

BTW, what compression ratio did the PI motors use?

Are there rules you need to follow? A small shot of nitrous at full throttle would be the easiest way to get 150HP. A 50 hp shot of nitrous and a 10 lb bottle should get you about 250 plus seconds of use, or a 20 lb bottle for double that.
A nitrous car is also bone stock till you hit the button.
A supercharged or turbo car would be my choice if you can spend the money. 9.5 compression is high with a iron head, with 6 lbs of boost and water/methanol injection and or a good intercooler you might be OK with pump gas. Caution boost is addictive next thing you know the little TR6 will have 850+ hp LOL
