Two Restoration Tips

I am working to complete the B/E and as I progress I am making to-do lists in my head. You know how that goes after 50 :mad-new:. So here goes two helpful tips that I discovered over the last few weeks.

1. Download the Moss Motors UK catalog pdf and make annotations (using the comments section in Adobe) and save them. Now I can see what I need to do as I move through the catalog.

2. Ever want to know the size of a missing or damaged nut or bolt? Copy the Part number from the catalog and place it into Google. A search will almost always get you the size and length of the bolt you are looking for.

Any other tips?

Paul

The Moss UK catalog is invaluable. One of the best reference documents around......and they stock more parts than Moss US.

I have a white board out in the shop -- have found it to be critical for keeping me organized. Everything that needs to be done to the car gets added to the board as soon as I think of it. Croissing things off gives a nice sense of accomplishment, and the list makes sure I don't miss anything.

A picture of it from when I was working on the Tunebug:

As far as my wife is concerned, Bugsy II is fully funded from the sale of Bugsy I. Well not by a long shot but I try to put $100 per month into the parts fund. That helps to keep things sane from a budgeting standpoint. $25 per week. Just pennies per day, One less Starbucks pays for it. See it's not that hard and I know she spends $ on stuff we never discuss. Happy Wife, happy life.

What I'm finding is that when I address one issue, I discover two more that need to be addressed. My list keeps getting longer instead of shorter.

Actually, the part # is coded to give you all the details you'd need as long as you know the code: Go here: https://healey6.com/technical.htm and in the "Miscellaneous" section open the pdf file entitled "Bolt Codes from BMC Service Bulletin" All will be revealed.

The trick is that you erase the items once they've been completed, so no big visible trace. I do have all the receipts, I just never add them up.

Happy Wife, happy life.

Truer words were never spoken. Doesn't matter how you manage it, just keep it all working and life will be better.

There is no way I could be so organized. I told my wife I was doing the Sprite that has been setting in the garage for 30 years and pulled out the credit card and started ordering parts. I did pace myself and found you can do a Bugeye in a couple of years with out going broke. She pays the bills and I have asked her how much I have into it but she won’t tell me.
