It's been a long time since I posted any pictures of the restoration. I hope to have the car done by Triumphest & VTR in 2013.

Looks great Keith. What colour is that? It looks very much like the shade of blue I picked too

Cheers, Mike

Keith and Mike - I love the colour of the smallmouth TR3 that you have both chosen. My friend Alan Robinson (two TR4s) of the TR Register (who lives in Vietnam) would also pick this colour on a TR3 if he was to restore one.

SUPER

Cheers - Don

Keith,

That looks very nice. There was one close to that color at VTR last week and my wife thought it was the best color. I hope to see you in 2013, as well as Randy. I am now an experienced VTR late TR3 judge and enjoyed it very much. The late TR3 class had a terrific showing of really nice cars. After I finished checking a fellow club members car with a 9x12 hand mirror and crawling around on the ground examining every bit of the underside, she said to me 'if I didn't know you on a first name basis, I'd feel violated'. -It was a tough class to judge, but I'll let Randy tell you who won.

Keep up the great work.

Thank you for all the compliments on the restoration. I've been working on it for 5 1/2 years now. The color of the car is Winchester Blue which is the original color. It's hard to get the correct lighting in the garage so the picture shows the correct shade. The picture of the front apron is the best example. I have a copy of the judging standars but it's still very hard to get it all correct. The car is a real mess right now because of color sanding, cutting, and buffing.

Hi Don,

Why on earth would anyone want to live in "Vietnam" of all places & has 2 TR4s there!! I`m a "Jan.`67-`68" Hue Tet Survivor & have no ambition to see what that place looks like today. I`m just curious.

Keith, Your car looks spectacular. It reminds me of my `57TR3 I was working on just a few months back. Mine was bought by a local gent who will continue the Resto. in approx. a yr or so.

Best Wishes,

Russ

Russ - Alan was the sidescreen TR registrar in England almost from the beginning g of the TR Register - even before Bill Piggott, the well known TR author. I met Alan in Hong Kong twice. Alan was working on the architectural boards (before computer aided design) for the new Hong Kong airport (among other projects). At that time he had a TR4 and a red TR6. The TR4 was stolen but they found it years later and it's back with Alan now. When Hong Kong was returned by the British to The Peoples Republic of China at the end of the 99 year lease, Alan moved to Vietmnam where, I believe he still works on architectural projects.

His 2nd TR4 is located in England so each time he returns "home", he has a TR4 to drive. From what I remember, the Comm. Nos. of both TR4s are very close to one another.

Hey Keith - yes, pretty spectacular - congratulations.

It's interesting to see the difference in the re-assembly order you chose vs myself. I have not put fenders or doors on yet, but the inside - under the dash, carpet etc is all complete. I was figuring doors and fenders to be one of the last things to go on - trying so hard not to scratch anything... :eeek:

After looking at those beautiful pictures of your TR3. I showed the photos to my Wife and she LOVES IT!!
We were thinking of valiencia blue for her 250....But The Winchester blue is just awesome. Yes the fun of putting the TR3 together is a blast. Great work!!
