Going to yank my own chain for a minute. Completed the dash and windshield for the 56 TR3 I bought early last year from Jason in VA. Its coming along nicely but for some reason very slow.

Hopefully in two weeks I will look similar to that! I also have a solid chrome ball, I thought it was just a junk piece, at any rate it will cost me a point........

Marv the car looks great. At least slow is progress, mine was on the 2 yard line them got hit with a 15 yard penalty. It's stopped for now.

Looks great. Really nice. You deserve to yank that chain.

I don't know what 'yard line' I am on, but it seems those penalties keep coming. -The last time mine refused to start, I noticed a leak in the radiator tank/neck. In the mean time I was trying to fit electronic ignition, so I never have to see another set of points wear out in 3,000 miles... but once I got it started (and resolved), I decided to drive it (even tho I know it needs fixed). Since then, I've crossed 14 lines off my Moss Challenge list, and haven't had any new problems come up -nor have I had to add more water to the radiator. I suppose I am progressing back toward the point I started. When I get there, I hope I can start over again.

Marv-

Very nice! You are already ahead of my project which is in year 3 or 4 now I think. Slow is my middle name.

Looks very nice. Keep up the good work and have fun. I don't think of a restoration as a race, but rather a long journey with no predicable path  Cheers, Mike

Looks great Marv. I don't visit the forum every day. Have you posted about this car previously? I'd be interested in how it got to it's present state.
Also, I'm, not a stickler for originality... I like the color

Very nice Marv. Give us more pictures. Not to be picky but whats with the plastic door pull chain and the mismatched fuel gauge?

I see you've got one of those nice speaker cutouts too, in the PS footwell. Has anyone figured out what to do with this hole, other than putting a 50 pound 8 inch subwoofer in there? I was thinking of making a sheet steel panel, adding some seam sealer, and pop riveting it into place to close this hole.

Way back in the late 70's that was a good place to stash your smoking items. Just in case the "Fuzz" wanted to talk to you.

Answers to some of the questions. I bought the car on the Forum from Jason in VA early last year. He's the one who selected the paint. He had started the tub and painted it in the blue. Everything outside was in black primer. I replaced a couple of fenders and put it all back together, there wasn't a smooth spot on the outside. I did the body work but had a local shop do the finish top coat and clear. Paint name is Transport blue. No metalflake in the paint. Lou, that is a metal chain for the door pull, early TR3's had their pull cord on the outside of the door panel. The fuel gauge is early TR4 to keep the oval glass. Working TR3 fuel gauges are getting hard to find and I had the 4 gauge and sending unit available. I had the MOSS tan interior so its worked out well for the combination. I will just cover the speaker panel with the kick panel. Thanks for all the nice comments, it gets you fired up to move on. For those of you that haven't been to the Jaguar forum I bought a XK140 last week that I am itching to start on but cannot until I finish this car.

Marv
