TR2/3/3A TR3 alternator conversion problems

I was just wondering if anyone else had these some problems with their alt. conversion. I purchased my kit from one of the major suppliers. It came with a Delco alt., belt, all the needed connectors and great instructions. Unfortunately, the 20" belt wasn't long enough, the pulley will not line up straight unless I remove about 1/8th inch. from the bottom eye that connects to the bottom frame plate with the lower bolt.
All these things are truly minor, but for the price I paid for the kit, I expected everything to bolt up. I was just wondering if others have had to do these things or am I doing something wrong.

I installed a convdersion yesterday. I saw it on Ebay, and contacted the seller.

The kit was shipped immediately, and contained everything.
I could use my old belt, or he recommended a new belt, carquest #6938. It is a 38 inch belt, and put me at the end of my adjustment, and too close to the fender. I found a 37 inch belt at NAPA, and it fits, but is a bit too short. It is on now and working, so I'll look for a 37.5 incher when I need a new one.
He recommended straightening the adjusting brace and attaching it to the back of the attach point on the alternator. I ended up increasing the bend and attaching it to the front of the attach point on the alternator.
I removed the regulator, and ended up with a terminal block. I also swapped the ammeter for a voltmeter.

I made up my own kit with a Delco 7127-3 and Gates belt. I ran the output directly to the starter solenoid, and gutted a non-working regulator and made my connections inside it so it still looks original. There was some issue with belt alignment, some said to cut a little off the back of the mounting point of the alternator but I ended up using a spacer instead. Took a little fiddling to get it right. But then it only cost me around $40 + new belt $13 so it was OK.

If you paid for a kit that is supposed to fit, then it should fit. That's why you paid someone else to make the kit. Call the vendor and let them know about your dissatisfaction.

One small thing regarding the trimming of material from the alternator. Should it fail, you may wind up eating the core charge for a replacement unit due to the modification.
Minor point, perhaps, but worth mentioning.

No, the odd is that all the info I found says to cut 1/2" off the rear flange on the Delco alternator and straighten the adjusting bracket. Mine actually need a spacer to align the pulleys. Look before you cut I guess.

or use a minus space.
