Re: took the car out for the first ride of the sea

Indeed!
I see you're in NYC. I can't imagine driving an Austin Healey on the streets of NY. Back when I was a teenager, and my only car was a bugeye sprite, I used to drive all over the city. I have fond memories of driving fast on the then elevated west side highway downtown thru the village. The road surface was paved in coblestones and my car would actually change lanes from the bumps as I swerved through the bends. Ah, those were the days. BTW...nice car you got there.

yeah... the cobblestones are brutal (i always have to remind myself to STAY OFF WEST 12TH STREET!) but tooling in and out of village streets on an early sunday morning is fantastic. sitting in traffic on canal street? not so much.

Re: took the car out for the first ride of the sea

I bet it is cool cruising the streets of lower Manhattan early Sunday mornings...the financial district is especially quiet. do you actually keep your car in Manhattan? I knew someone with a loft on Spring Street with a garage bay and elevator. It was possible to bring the car up into her 4th floor loft! these days renting a parking spot in a NYC garage costs serious coin $$$. Plus your car is in a semi public environment. just don't try parking on the street during the work week...the thought of a Healey being towed away by New York's finest is not very pleasant.
