OK, I took the plunge

I decided to go ahead and start work on a bugeye. Oddly enough, after I gotit home my "honey do" list had grown. Oh well... keeps a man young!

The back is a bit rougher than I had hoped for, but it is all workable and the front is pretty solid. There are some more details and pictures on a blog that I started:

Awesome Trevor!!!! So when can I come get that Midget body /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif!!!!!

They did a great job of mending the two bodies together as far as I can tell in the pictures. Are you planning to use the minilites on it or keel steel wheels?

My plans... that can quickly change is to use 14" superlights on the bugeye. I'm either going to sell the midget sans drive train, part it out, put a used drive train it it (and sell it), or save it to swap a modern 4 cylinder into it. I hate to part the car out, because it I've spent alot of time rebuilding most everything in it.

When I did my midget, there was no spridget board here. I used other various spridget mailing lists/boards. I also did a poor job of documenting what was done to the car. However, times have changed. I hope to make steady progress and posts like Jack and others have done. In many ways, this board has inspired me to take on this project.

Well Jack, you are going to have to stick around here to answer questions after yours is finished. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't supose I'm going anywhere. Lots of little car things to do, soon as I get it finished and a trailer.

There are some folks here on the board even that are going to get a Beep Beep.

The engine was the easy part. No rusty bolts there!

Yup, having pulled my midget motor a few times, this was a breeze. Like you're finding out, it is not too easy to work under a the hood while hanging over the fenders.

@#$%!^&@*!, I just did something REALLY stupid. I was digging around the top shelf (above the Sprite and Midget) looking for some wall primer for one of the projects on my honey do list. Lost my balance, and down comes the shelf paint and buffing motor! Midget is pretty dinged up on the hood/fender... and the back of the sprite is caved in. I popped it back out, but it is going to need some serious work. You guys may not hear from me for awhile ... I need to sort out what I should do now.

I took the Bugeye to the all Brit in KC Labor Day weekend, after I got home I noticed another small dent where the top sits on the back deck.(bummer) These cars are meant for driving and using, but it is still not good. It will be added to winter list. (repaint the experior and the engine bay)
