Car got nailed by some poc who took off without leaving a note. Most likely going to need a new rear quarter, tail light assembly, bumper mounts and maybe the bumper. Didn't find the damage till this morning. Cars under normal insurance so I'm now out 500 bucks to get it fixed if I can find a shop in town that will fix it assuming the insurance company doesn't try to total it.

The sad thing is my parts finaly showed up on saturday and on sunday afternoon I finialy finished the mechanical restorations and a few hours later it gets hit.

Yes, a little banging and pulling (some heat) should do it.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Hopefully it can be pulled. The local body shop that does work on the older cars is 65/35 that it can be pulled. Right now it's looking at 1500 in repairs if it can be pulled.

I empathize with you....it will come out fine, I'm sure.

That damage, without a doubt, can be pulled and hammered out. Sorry for your misfortune, but for the guy that hit you and ran I have one thing to say to him/her:

Well I finally got the car back from the shop and for the did a decent job with the body work however the insurance company decided to use a used part to replace the tail light. Generally this is fine as a good used part is better than anything available new today however the one they sent was complete junk. It appears to be slightly bent its broken in one spot and cracked in another and the lens was so bad I put one of the originals from the car back on. Apparently they paid 75 bucks for it while a new one is 30 bucks more. I also loved the job they did on reinstalling the reverse light which they also broke in the process. Now I just have to wait for the adjuster to call back so the tail light can be fixed and this can all be over with.

That almost looks like they put your old one back on & just charged the insurance company for a new one.

Well they just approved buying a new one so instead of just paying 105 + shipping for the new one plus the labor to install it they are going to end up paying 180 for parts and install X2. Hopefully they can get their money back on the old one.

Why is it there is always enough time and money to do things twice but rarely enough of either to do it right the first time?

Edsel Murphy explained it, Pete.

In this case, it is "Why do something right the first time, if you can get paid to do it again?" Our insurance dollars at work.
