Spitfire GT6/Spitfire Heater Box Mounting

Can anyone please tell me how I should install the heater box? I wasnt the one who removed it, so I have no idea how to put it back in. I think its supposed to mount up to the firewall, but I cant see how without drilling, and logically, if it was removed in my driveway, mounting points should still be there.

There should be 4 bolt holes on one side the side with the inlet and outlet pipes on it, opposite side of the fan motor. Those 4 bolts should line up with 4 oval shaped hole on the firewall. The 2 water pipes should come out the firewall thought the larger holes underneath.

with squishy foam seals around the water pipes and the fan intake. The bolts go through the firewall from the engine side and hold the heater box to the firewall.

Weatherstripping around the fan intake, and pipe insulation around the core pipes would be a quick/locally sourced/easy replacement for those seals.

The 2 bolts to the right of the regulator are the bolts for one side of the heater box. Should be 2 more on the passenger side, same location.

Ok, thanks. Since factory concourse GT6es are rare. I wasnt sure if what he had was in the correct place. I didnt see where it could bolt up to on the passenger side until today. I guess I just needed to lean more and have my head at a better angle. (couldnt see over the battery box) I currently have the driver side bolt up area in use. Where should this lovely unit be installed instead? I was certain it came off the firewall originally

It did come off the fire Wall, I remember on mine having a small tab stop welded on my firewall, bent out 90 degrees that had 2 bolt holes though it. Something like this

This is in between the pedals and the heater box.

I'll try and grab a photo of mine tomorrow.... (warning my car is not pretty, but it runs)

That would be great, thanks.

Dont worry. Mines pretty but DOESNT run. ...According to the town, that makes it a JUNKED VEHICLE. In other words, your car is better than mine.

Does this help?

Not really, because that means that I would have to drill. But I was sure I was the one who removed it. And I thought I removed it from there. After all, due to the length of the wiring, where else could it go? But I guess those holes are for the heater core, because they match the others on the other side. But at least this explains why it was difficult for me to align the bolts.

We didnt bondo over, or weld shut the holes. I wonder where they could be.

If I remember correctly, your Mk1 is close to ours in the production run. On our car there is no special bracket for that relay. Instead, there is at least one hole on one of the gussets next to the clutch or brake master cylinder. The relay attaches to that hole. I don't have pictures of that area but if you look at those gussets I think you'll find the hole I am talking about.

Since there's threads in the heater box there's no reason that the bolt that holds the heater in couldn't do double duty and hold the relay too. In fact that might be why you put the relay back there.

I checked yesterday. On our Mk1 the inboard gusset next to the brake master cylinder has two clearance holes for mounting the relay.
