I went to the Mitty at Road Atlanta this last weekend and got to hangout with current owners of some of the Group 44 cars. I took a bunch of pictures and in my book there are none greater for taking perfromance to the extreme within the original origins of a production based car with professionalism than Group 44!

Those are wonderfully nostalgic pictures, since I am originally from just down the street from their original shop in Falls Church.

I sort-of lost contact with Lankey, Brian, John, Paul and Bob when they moved out to Reston, so forgive me if I'm mistaken on a small point. I guess it must have been Paul, but I never remembered them having a Group 44 Midget race car. I remember though Paul having a poison green Bugeye on the street and another Bugeye race car that used to hang around the shop on Gordon rd.

Lanky now lives in Sanford, North Carolina, Bob Tullius is in Sebring, Florida and Brian F. passed away in 1993 airplane accident. Paul raced a MGB. Here is what the underside of the Spitfire's bonnet looks like. This is a picture from a Group 44 built privateer spitfire. Same exact arrangements.

Awesome just isn't a good enough word for this here... maybe... Fantastipotimus! Thanks for posting all these pictures! I really do love that Spit and the TR8! Wonder if I could purchase one of those front splitters like whats on that spitfire... would probably do wonders with highway cooling, and even if it didn't, it sure looks cool!

Pete-The spoiler is a one-off that were just a simple sheet of aluminum, nothing special. I know someone somewhere has the pattern but I think you could fudge one to be almost dead on! Now the TR8 front end lower section is actually from a competition Prosche......I know how dare they but less work to get the same results I would have done it too! I think I have about 70 to 80 pictures of the weekend down at Road Atlanta. I also have more than a few hundred of almost all the Group 44 cars. It is beyond and addiction! Here is my favorite vintage picture!
