I have a '67 Cortina 1500 GT.Three years ago,
had an engine problem. Finally got it going a year ago.
Drove it to a British Car meet near Sacramento, low oil
pressure.Drove it home,pulled the engine (6 times).Two
bad (used) cams,+ many mistakes.
I finally admitted defeat. After getting everything
back together (or so I thought),couldn't get it to start.
I had a Friend of mine who's also a great mechanic,come
over (so I didn't do something stupid),& help me find the
problem.
It turned out to be something on the contact surface
of the new set of point that I put in.Car runs great, now I
need to finish up minor things,& get it back on the road.

I'm down to getting the hood back on,
& re-bleeding the clutch slave cylinder.I
tried doing it myself,with a one-way bleeder,
but still no success.
I think that I'll admit defeat,& take it
to a shop.I want to drive it!

I've "admitted defeat!".After much thought.I
think that I'll pull the clutch master/slave,and
"reverse bleed" it.
I sold a one-owner 1600GT,& kept the 1500GT.
I hope I made the right decision. Why is life so
difficult?

Because you continue to live up there in north California.....life's much slower in Alabama, I keep telling you!

We are "Northern California" - not Southern California.
We used to be "20 years behind the rest of the state",but
then the've all moved up here to get away from their problems.
Why do they want to over-develope this area,& make it like
what they're trying to get away from?
I wish some "enthusisiasts" would move up here,& help me
get my projects going!I need some help/encouragement!

Wow! I'm only about 8&1/2 Million short.
What's this got to do with my lowly cars?

That's for all 120 lots...but they're soon going to offer them individually....good time to make the move while the Cortina feels like stretching her legs.

Doug:

How many Cortinas have passed through your hands.

This is about 3 ;67 GT's since I've known you, I think.

I'm going back to my old plan of pulling the Ivy 1680 out of my '68 4 door GT and putting it in the '67. I'll put the original crossflow back in the 4 door.

Maybe.

I was just looking at the 2002 results at the Portland ABFM autocross...

We slayed them!

Paul,

Wow! - you got me thinking.I was given the first one-
'69 Deluxe 4 speed, original owner.I weas the only one in the
US to have a MKI,MKII,& MKIII at the same time.
1. 1968 MKII Deluxe,2 door,4 speed,original owner

2.1968 MKII Deluxe,2 door,automatic,34,000 miles,original owner
- totalled @ 41,000 miles.

3.1968 Deluxe,50,000 miles,Burgundy,9 owners (nobody before me-
completed registration.

4.1967 MKII 1500 GT,2 door GT,"high top" dash.I talked to the original
owner, when he was still alive.I've sold & bought this car twice.
Almost finished (again).Green/White.

5.1972 MKIII,Yellow, bought from owner's Nephew near Vancouver,BC

6.1968 MKII Deluxe,Burgundy bought back from incompetent owner.

7.1965 MKI GT,White 2 door,was taken on this car,missled,etc.

8.1968 MKII GT,2 door.1 owner, sold to another Forum member (BIG mistake)

9.1968 Mink Blue parts car.Gone.

Thanks for reminding me of all the mistakes I've made!

(I should have bought that MKI Escort when it was offered-
- to me!).
