Well, I was up late one night, I could not sleep, went out to the living room and flipped on the TV. I was watching old black & whites when on came one of "THOSE" commercials for the miricle fix all "Pops-A-Dent" Paintless repair kit for only $19.95.

I thought "what would it hurt?" and so I bought one. Took about 6 weeks to get in the mail, then I threw it up on the top wrung of my tool box, and forgot about it.

Today I had the "B" out for a spin, had it parked out in the driveway when I heard a "THUD". You know that sound, like something just hit the car. I got a sick feeling in my stomache and went out to inspect. The local kids were playing baseball and one got loose and hit the car on the drivers door just above the trim. Nice dent. I can zero in on it every time I go out and look at the car now. Then it dawned on me about the "Pops-A-Dent" tooling system that I bought a while ago.

I followed the directions, and ya know what? IT worked! Pulled the dent right out flush like it was never there. Took a coulple times, but now I feel confident that I could use this cheap fix for expensive dents. It works best on the small dents, pulled them right out, boy was I surprised how great it looked. Looks like no dent was ever there. But as human beings go, I will always see it there.

So it you are up late one night, and you see the system on TV, to me it was a cheap investment and worth having around. Then of course, I used my wax on the door just to see how well it cleaned up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I used one called the "Ding King" on a rather large but shallow dent on the front of the rear quarter on the Spider. Pulled it put to about 95% or so, but took several tries to get it that good. But convinced me it was worth it. Got it last year at the local Checker Auto store.

I've heard horror stories about those dent poppers. Just gave away a brand new "Pops A Dent" last week that I got as a gift. Apparantly they can damage your paint and on poorly-painted cars they can actually rip the paint right off! Glad to hear it worked out for you though.

"Works" on some dents, useless on others. Does not work as easily as shown on TV. But not much does.

Right you are Steve!

I've been in the PDR (paintless dent removal) trade for 12 years. The glue on removal system created was first markedted by Ding King for PDR guys to help improve, not completely remove a dent or ding, that we can not get our tool to. An area where there is no access.

To the trained eye, PDR and most owners who are meticulous, the glue pull way can not completely finish the job. Most likely the "center" of the dent or impact may remain.

Just make sure NOT to use it on any fresh paint!

Not soliciting here, but if your interested in learning more about how PDR works, here's my link:

www.dentfree.us

To find a PDR company in your area, try the internet, local phone book or call your nearby car dealership and ask who they use. Make sure you don't use a guy who just got out of school for complex dents, ie, crushed body line, hard curves. And know your car. If your car has bondo under the paint, forget using PDR. The paint will crack when pressure is applyed to the dent.

Cheers, Roger

One thing that works pretty slick on a clean dent -
- take an old Basketball, deflate it,insert it behind the dent,& then inflate it with a hand pump.

I always laugh at the pops-a-dent commercials, because you can see the 2 dents the arms leave everytime they pop the center one out. I would think it would work better with a full circular surface contact to pull against. But trading one dent for 2 doesn't sound as cool.
