electrical connector

I began work on new wiring loom placement today. One of the wire leads came out of the wiper motor plug connector. After a good bit of gentle fiddling with it, I determined that the spade like terminals inside the plastic plug must 'snap' into place to lock them in. It seems impossible to remove the spade terminal from the plastic plug to re-crimp the wire without ruining the plug. I was thinking about pushing in the wire as far as I could and then epoxy the base for permanency....anything wrong with that thought? Is there a better easy home option? Also, the 'ears' on the plug do not allow for penetration through the hole in the cowl assembly 'fire wall' opening. Can one end be ground off to allow passage into the engine bay? Is there any reason they would be necessary? There doesnt appear to be any coresponding clip on the wiper motor plug recepter end.
The attached photos show the situation.

Thanking all in advance!

Note carefully which wire goes to which number on the plastic plug.

Get a piece of wire coat hanger about six inches long, flatten one end with a hammer on a vice or other flat surface until it is just wide enuff to fit into the slot cut in the female end of the plastic plug that is small... the slot looking like a "notch". File the flattened end square like a chisel. Insert the flat "tool" in there and it will release the one-way clip of the connector. Pull the wire and if you've done this correctly the connector will nearly FALL out of the plastic. shove the wires thru the opening and reinsert the wires to their respective "homes" in the plastic connector.

Or, usually the tip of an Xacto blade.....or a small jeweler's flatblade.....or the little tool I have for releasing those catches.

Epoxy will NOT work.
You will not maintain a good electrical connection.

A small set of "jewelers" screw drivers works well. Also push the connector forward to release it fron the plastic stop. If it's been pulled back, the locking tab can bed into the plastic stop and make the job more difficult.

I'm back, and happy about it!
I made the tool, slipped it in the slot, and the blade terminal 'fell' out freely! I then used a paper clip end to open up the crimping pieces, slipped the wire end back in, a little squeeze of the crimping tool, and its yesterdays news!

Thanks so much Dr. E, TOC, and ralph

the attached photos show the modified coat hanger tool, pre-procedure, and the second photo shows the intact and finished connector piece.

Thanks again!!!
