The pinion oil seal has developed a slow leak on my 390 rear end. Is there a replacement oil seal that can be found at a NAPA store or will I have to order one from the usual suppliers?
Thanks,
Charlie
I did get one from the local auto parts store, my guy is old school, he uses a book, not a computer and cross referenced it to a full size Ford rear axle seal.
Unfortunately, I do not have the part number.
If my memory serves me, it was a 73 (ish) Crown Vic or LTD.

Give them a call. Just got one from my local O-reileys. Heed what Kellysguy said. I've used a torque wrench and not quite tightened to the book spec when refitting. If you overtighten you will ruin the correct gear lash setting.

Good advice from all. The only auto supply store within 40 miles is a NAPA store so I was hoping to get a seal there. Since I will need a crunch sleeve I guess I better order both from Moss.
Thanks to all,
Charlie
Unfortunatly JP once the crush sleeve is over crushed I think you are out of luck. Unless perhaps you disassemble and put a shim washer in and go thru the setup procedure again. Don't know if that would work but think it may. Perhaps someone with more experience will chime in.
