I took a 3000 km/1900 mile run in late May in our BJ7, and developed a 'clunk' in the rear about the time of the return home. I was thinking suspension, but couldn't see anything when crawling around underneath (we're running Udo Putzke's Fahrspass tubular Bilstein shock conversion, and are very happy with it).
Buddy Jeff was over this afternoon and pulled the rear seats, which allowed access to all the shock etc. mounting bolts. Three bolts weren't as tight as he felt they should be, so he snugged them up. We went for a test drive (sans rear seats) and the 'clunk' was gone. So, lesson is that you pull the rear seats so that you can have access to the shocks etc. etc. there, and get to listen to weird noises when driving with them out. Doug
