Your opinion on undercarriage treatments

So the '62 Mk II is mostly dismantled, with only front and rear suspension to come off before media blasting and priming. Would like your opinion on options for treating undercarriage- have seen some tubs with full primer and body color on the bottom, others with POR-15 and then a black undercarriage paint; still others with the Eastwood Chassis Black over rust converter. Looks like original cars had only a factory primer; no color. Since the tub is going to be flipped over anyway, any thoughts on what makes a 'good' but not concours treatment for the underside?

Down to bare then epoxy primer and "Schultz" it... and body color over that.

I painted the bottom of my MGB in epoxy primer and truck bed liner.

Up here in the rust belt? POR15, followed (when tacky) by a thin coat of primer to tie it. Schultz, then body or black, depending on preference.

I'm getting the impression that Spridget bottom sides were not painted the same color as the body....correct? I'm thinking of doing that on my BE.

I live in the Pacific northwest close to a temperate rain forest - it definatley gets wet here. I decided to go all out and hopefully I will not have to do this again. I scraped off everything I could and then media blasted the bottom to bare metal. Within an hour I had coated all seems with seam sealer. A couple of hours later after taping everything off I sprayed two thick coats of epoxy primer. I scuffed this the next day and then coated it with black truck bed liner. Won't get any concours awards, but I shouldn't have to worry about the underside in my lifetime.

Bugeyes were painted the body color everywhere including the undercarriage except the underside of the rear deck which was left as a brownish gray primer.

I have almost finished cleaning the undercarriage (love the Power Degreaser) of its 40 year coat of grime. So, it is decision time for me on the paint. Since I am not doing a full rotisserie restoration, I liked the idea of the tinted bed liner option. Seattle is not quite the rainforest area, but it sure gets its share of liquid sunshine

The undercarriage on mine is all black (body color), though most of it is covered by the standard Factory MG self-undercoating system. That is one thing that always works flawlessly on these cars.

Think about this. Aye Bugeyes were body color but........ from bare metal two part epoxy primer then then then........truck bed liner in the same color. It protects the body, deadens sound and lasts a life time.

Oh yea rear wheel arches were undercoated at the factory before color painting.

So, which one of the bedliner products have you used on your car? There seems to be a lot of choices out there. I think there would be better control with the brush on product versus the spray.

Tony has used bedliner. His idea was too late for me. His latest is red to match the outside of course.

I'm gonna use a brush for seams and tight areas, and small roller for the floorpans, wheelarches ect,.
