TR2/3/3A wrinkle finish on TR3

I recently purchased some wrinkle finish powder for my at home powder coating kit. I'm pleased with the results. I have tried the spray-can wrinkle finish with mixed results--usually an uneven paint distribution. Obviously with powder coating you don't get that uneven finish. HOWEVER, I've noticed differences in the degree of paint wrinkle. More specifically, the spray can (enamel) paint is VERY wrinkled while the powder coat is not so wrinkled. Unfortunately, I've media blasted everything so I can't compare. Essentially I want to see if the powder coated wrinkle finish is drastically different from what was originally sprayed on the TR3. Anyone happen to have any close up pictures of the original black wrinkle finish? If so, could they email or post? Seems like the dash panel, heater, and rear view mirror all had this wrinkle finish.

This is a close up shot of the finish on the cast aluminum dash support on a TR4 (that is the TR in the garage at the moment). Quarter is there for scale.

Not sure if this is the same finish as original on a TR3A though my recollection of the mirror is that it is close.

As perhaps you can see -- a lot less wrinkly than the results one gets from a rattle-can so perhaps you have it right.

Thanks Geo. Looking at your picture, I honestly think the powder coat wrinkle looks more similar to the original then the enamel wrinkle spray can. . . .and before anyone corrects me, I know they weren't powder coating in the 50's and 60's /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Nonetheless, I'll experiment with the heater first and see how it looks. If anyone has any other pictures I'd be interested in seeing.
