And one is going on mine. The finish on it is beautiful I think. I'm going to fab up some studs for it soon because the stock ones seems too short - haven't fitted it yet, but does it take a stock gasket? Would like to use Justin's silicone one if I can get away with it.

Yes the stock gasket will work. I am using the silicone one and it works fine. All you have to do for the studs is to cut and weld two bolt (studs) to the right size. or use a die and cut new threads on a piece of round stock.

I've seen them with all the fins painted. I like the touch of red as it is an Offy color. I've got a spin-on Oil filter cover that I did the same way.

This one came with studs, oil cap, a cool sticker, but no gasket.

Don't know about the gasket. I'll ask the owner if he wants the silicone gasket or stock. Justin will know if his fits.

Ah, something tells me Macy's garage open for business! I talked with Mark about the cover a while back, and pointed him to an oil cap that fit pretty well - is he giving out an oil cap decal TR-style with it as well?

Nope, the sticker says Offenhauser Equipment.

Cap is a Mr. Gasket. It's kinda dome-shaped, so I don't know if a TR-style cap sticker would lie on it well.

What kind of paint would you use on the cover? I have some brake caplier paint would that work with the heat?
Thanks

Red Garnet Powder coat. I think any paint will work as the top of that valve cover should not get so hot as to bubble the paint. If it does you've got a cooling problem.

I went over to my buddies machine shop today and he gave me an old valve cover from a 292 V-8 Ford motor. It even had an old valve cover gasket on it. It, the valve cover gasket fits perfectly into my TR-3 valve cover but is twice as thick. The bolt holes are spaced further apart on the Ford valve cover than the TR-3 cover. Does Offenhauser still make auto parts and are the valve covers still available, they sure look cool. Bill C, Mesa, Az.

Yep, they do. I think Mark Macy is selling some through TRA, also Exeter in California has them: valve cover

Looks like Exeter's price has crept up in the past year, they were under $200 about a year ago.

And, this is what one looks like after a few thousand miles of driving the car, instead of sitting around polishing the car.

Moses-

I like the grime, gives the car the proper TR patina!

Do you know if thats a Mr Gasket cap? The one I bought is more squared off - it fits will but I think the od may be a little bigger and I'm worried about interference with the valve cover nuts.

I don't remember the brand, Randy... It's the one that Exeter sent me when I bought the whole rig from them. (Had to make my own mounting studs.)

Thanks Moses-

Exeter must have been cutting corners when I bought mine - no cap came with it.

No cap "came with" mine, either. They charged me an extra $8.95, or something, for it. It was a telephone order, so we talked about the need to have one -- stock cap doesn't fit, etc. -- so I asked him to send what he had that would fit.

Randy, Moseso's cap looks similar to the #2061 Mr. Gasket cap that Mark sent.

He sends acorn nuts instead of the cool knobs that Moseso has, though.
