Temperature Gauge reading

The temperature gauge (moss replacement) on my BN1 seems to be reading above the lowermost reading while sitting at rest (cold)- is there any calibration possible?

A separate issue- the temperature seems to rise (~15 degrees) AFTER the engine is shut down. What causes this to happen and is it anything to worry about?

On my gage, the lowest point is at 90. When cold it usually sits a little above 90. It's quite accurate at 160 to 230.

The coolant temperature rises a bit after shut down & is normal. There is still a lot of stored heat in the engine/radiator which loses the cooling when the water flow & air flow are first stopped. Nothing to worry about.

A long time ago when I was very young and had only owned my Healey about a year or two, I was spending so much time watching the temp & oil gauge move with engine rpms. I eventually cured that problem with a piece of masking tape over the gauge. Haven't had a water temp or oil pressure problem since then. When the tape falls off, I put a new piece on...problem goes away.
