Shock Oil?????

Hi to all,
Can anyone tell me the type of oil I can put in my front shock absorbers?I remember a post that said something about fork oil for motorcycles but I'm not sure .Today while driving around,I noticed that the front end was alittle jumpy.As always,Thanks for your help.

Motorcycle fork oil is available in different weights; 20w is probably closest to original. I've experimented with up to 40w with good results.

Over the years I've tried pretty much everything in the shocks of my BJ8 and MG Midget without much discernible difference in shock performance. I've used: Armstrong Shock Oil (available from Moss), hydaulic jack oil from Sears, Automatic Transmission Fluid, 30W motor oil, and motorcycle fork oil. The fork oil has additives that cause the seals to swell slightly and can help reduce leaks. At the moment I'm using Armstrong Shock Oil.

Thanks for the quick response.I think I'm going to try the fork oil.Before this spring,my car had been sitting since 1989, so swelling the seals would probably be a good thing to do.Thanks again guys,
