TR2/3/3A Harley Davidson shock oil for Lever shocks?

I've heard that HD front fork shock oil can be used in the Armstrong lever shocks. Is there more than one type of this oil and how much firmer does the shock become ?

I use fork oil -- the end effect depends on what weight you select.

It doesn't have to be H-D oil, any motorcycle shock oil will work. I recommend 20w.

A little hard to find, but if you can find 30 weight, it adds a fair amount of stiffness. I've never tried to measure it, but assuming the stock oil is 20 weight, you should see something like 20-30% more damping (assuming the shocks aren't worn out or broken).

If of course the increased forces don't break the shock. I've heard of racers sometimes using STP to thicken up the oil for more damping, and blowing the sides out of the shock.
