Rhino liner type paint

Once your project is cleaned primed and painted, what are your thoughts on applying a roll on bedliner (similiar to Rhino linner) to floors and bottom of car?
I am thinking this would be an ultimate protection from future rust and protection from rock chips etc...

I did just that to the tub on the advice of my paint man. See the photo album, photos number 17, 20, 22. I'm not sure how it would be on the underside.
I've never done this before, but it seems like it should do its job well.

The PO of my MK2 Sprite put something like that on it.
The stuff is under the carpets and also underneath.
I don't know what product he used, but it's black and it's tough and so far the car is rust free.

There is a guy by me that did that to his sprite, except he didnt put any carpet in afterward, that way if he forget to put the top up, just shop-vac the car

It's being done more and more as this stuff becomes available to the home installer and can be applied with a brush or roller. You can even get it tinted to match your car or at least close. Applied over paint it gives both rust protection as well as protection from stone chips inside the fenders. From what I've heard if you want to use it on the underside it's best to apply it while the body is on a rotisserie or such, this stuff is thick and doesn't like to be applied overhead, tends to drip off. It will work ok on a verticle surface, but is best on a horizontal surface.

Use it in a color that is the same as the exteror. Like white in my case.

Yep, I did it in Red under my '63 Midget.....planning on doing it under SSsnake, my '79 MGB V8, when it goes into the paint booth.....& will do it under my '77 Corvette as well.....not only does it protect the underside but it also softens road noise.

Oh, Rickey has 3 Corvette's in his shop right now, plus SSsnake and an old Chevy pickup! & he's doing my Dodge pickup after the woman ran a red light & hammered the driver front corner.

My 67 Sprint is near completion and the shop that is working on it suggested that he use Rhino liner tinted to the color of the car. I've got one durrable trunk area that looks good. He is supposed to do under the car with black. Should last longer than I do.

I checked the under body of my Midget. My painter covered it in the truck bedliner as well (I knew the tub was done). This is significant because his colleagues are of the Jeep, Bronco, truck, 'mudder' type. And if this is their normal course, I can only assume they have good success with it. as Tony discusses the reason why above.
My wheel wells are not painted with truck bedliner. I was thinking of covering them with the rubberized coating ( I have 3 cans on the shelf waiting). What is everyones opinion on the wheel wells? Truck bedliner or rubberized undercoating? especially you Tony?....what do you think?

I do my wheelwells in shiny paint just because I can see them.

Wheel wells painted gloss? I'd like to see a photo if possible. It sounds interesting. And, when I think about it, I'm not going to be driving my Midget as a daily driver in the weather of the Midlands in England, I'm going to be driving it in the summertime in dry weather in Pennsylvania. So, I probably do not need rubberized undercoating? What about the visible front panel assembly behind the grill? Mine is white, and I've been thinking it might give a more bold look if it is black? Opinions? Tony?
