Howdy All, I am getting ready to relace the differential pinion seal. Are there any tips, suggestions,or warnings of what to do or not do. Thanks Steve
Would help if you'd mention what car /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
But assuming it's your TR4, it's pretty easy. My only comments are to be careful not to gouge the housing when prying out the old seal; and check the sealing surface on the flange carefully before putting it back on. As a rule of thumb, if you can feel a groove with your fingernail, it's too big.
Should be a Speedi-Sleeve available if the flange is damaged.
Don't forget to torque the nut to spec and stick a new cotter pin in it. Also new Nylocs for the driveshaft flange.
Howdy All, After about 2 hours, a few bad words and loads of fun, the seal is in and doesn't leak. Actually not to bad of a job. It would have been a lot better if the car was on a lift instead of blocks. Worst part was getting old seal out and the TR4 showering me with dirt, grease and love as i worked on it. Later Steve
