TR2/3/3A help needed! fuel problem

I had a distributor with a bent shaft once which allowed the cam to wobble. Points were not opening on two of the three and one opened way too much. Spin the engine and watch the cam to see if it wobbles.

Well if this is a new engine with rings that need to seat and you have all that gasoline running into the oil or even a blown out diagram on the fuel pump letting fuel into the engine then get that oil out of the engine before you do anymore testing. It is probably 50% gasoline by now!! Like said, recheck the valve clearance to make sure you have compression to firer the cylinder.
peaceout

Such a problem had never occurred to me! Thanks for posting I feel convinced this could be the same or similar issue. An early post suggested flat lobes due to wear.....logically it answers many questions.

Yes, the oil is going to be dumped before more investigation.

After reading through this thread again I am assuming that the engine has been rebuilt and reassembled. If so could you possibly have the cam 180 off? If you are using a MG distributor cap could you also have a MG distributor ? Though they look alike they are generally 180 degrees different. That can be changed but is not a normal practice. Try determining if the spark for number 1 cylinder is actually occurring when the rotor is pointing at number one. Likely somebody else can give you a more descriptive test to make sure that the firing order is correct.
I say this because I acquired a Accuspark distributor and rebuilt my engine with it. It would not take a normal Triumph cap but rather one that fit an MG. When that distributor died on me I had to use a regular points distributor and it turned out to be 180 off. So i had to rewire the cap to match the 180 degree difference.
