so i can pull off the valves, the crap over the spark plugs, how about all the plumbing on the intake (i dont know what i can and can't pull)

Does anyone have a picture of a non-smog engine bay i can work from?

EVERYTHING!

About the only thing I might leave is the carbon cannister & return fuel line....but I also removed them from Jerri's GT!

I've a photo of a "non-smog" engine bay but it's a 1964... not "quite" what you meant, I'm sure /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

As Tony says: It can ALL be removed. Plug the holes and press on.

I've found brass 1/4" pipe plugs in most of the ones I've seen. I don't think they're the same thread as the head, but that's what people do.

Do NOT throw anything removed away.

These parts have value.

Clean them, label them, and baggie/box them for future use/sale.

they are not 1/4 pipe (or atleast not what i think)

[/ QUOTE ]

They are NOT 1/4" pipe, they're BSP thread... but about every head I've ever worked on wot's had the ports blocked have had brass 1/4" pipe plugs forced into 'em. Sorry if that was ambiguous.

The size of the air injection hole is 7/16-20. (7/16 fine) I use countersunk allen screws made for securing pulleys to shafts. You can find them at GOOD hardware stores , but I don't think there are any left in the Atlanta area.
I have a thirty gallon drum almost full of air pumps and such. Still waiting for them to get valuable.

ahhh... couldn't recall that. Thought I'd gone on a hunt for the "correct" plugs for one, back 20 years ago... somehow I remember'd it was BSP. Thanks Alan. NOW it gets filed in the Bentley book!

The emission control equipment have value in metroploitan areas or state where mandatory emissions inspections are carried out. (ie - Chicago, St.Louis, California)

Some of these cars have not been grandfathered into a "no test" classification.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif MGB smog pumps have value in Kali.... especially for the '76 through '80 model years. For the time being, all cars '76 and newer are required to have smog testing and equipment inspection every other year or so until they're retired from road use... or until they change the testing requirements again...
