Could a V-8 fit into a Sprite under "ordinary" circumstances? It looks like an awfully small engine bay! I had a guy pull up alongside me one night and tell me he had a '62 car like mine that had a V-8 in it. I'm convinced that he confused my Sprite with an MGB, since they have similar taillights. To be honest, I was never very certain of the differences between Spridget and MGB until I started researching the topic when I saw the car that I eventually bought for sale.

V8s have been going into Sprites for decades, but they all require some modification, usually to the heater/battery platform and driveshaft tunnel. They'll need a new transmission, driveshaft and rear axle as well. The more ambitious ones usually get a custom chassis thrown in as well. It's not a modification for those without some major skills and the real trick is not to wreck the handling by putting too much weight over the front end.
