TR2/3/3A Tr3:installing a speedi sleeve timing chain cover?

I'm getting a lot of oil thrown up on to the front of the engine to the point where the fan belt is getting coated and there is more than the usual amount of oil on the driveway. I have recently replaced the pan gasket as I originally thought I had an issue there. I'm pretty sure the timing cover seal is the culprit and I see Moss has a speedi sleeve kit. i'm assuming I pull the apron(have to do that anyway to fix a gaps at the hood/fender/apron),pull the rad, fan and timing cover to gain access to do the install. What is the procedure to install the speedi sleeve at this point? Anyone done this with the engine in situ? Karl

I got my sleeve from www.rockauto.com part #99174 redi sleeve $23.95, which a lower price than you know who. I put mine on with the engine on the stand so I can't help with your installation question. It does come with the tool to tap it on though.

Yep, did the same thing as Keith for sourcing it, though I saved a few cents by buying the Timken version: KWK99174 for $21.79 :laugh:

Procedure is pretty much as you have it - but the timing cover is only pulled to replace its seal, a must do in this case I think but not needed for the speedi-sleeve install. It will just tap on with the tool that comes with the sleeve, then there is a little fiddling to tear off the install part of the sleeve - it is slightly scored so will come off, kind of like opening an old style tuna can.

Or just leave it in place. It doesn't hurt anything.
