Welp...she's mobile again. After getting as much air out of them brake lines as possible, the brakes were still at a couple pumps, so I opted to get into the brakes at the wheels. First to adjust the rears. That helped some. Then to look into the self adjusting mechanisms in the fronts. Drivers side OK except for a broken return spring, but the passenger side had pretty much fallen apart. Fortunately, I found all the bits stuck to the grease and brake fluid and dirt on the backing plate behond the drums. Cleaned everything thoroughly and put it back together...got it all adjusted good, and now I can only barely get the pedal on the floor. It wil stop the car without any pumps. Good enough for me.
I also put in the new ball joint sockets, made some shims for them (I really think they should include a couple shims with a ball joint kit...but ....), adjusted the torsion bars to have proper ride heighth, added a quart of oil. And made it to the local British car club meeting on time for the first time in about a year.
Of course, after the meeting I got caught up in a rain storm...with a headlight out and no wipers. So I had to spend the night at a friends house nearby, but she made it home fine this morning....which is when the pics at the link below were taken....
Next step? I guess I'll just drive it for a while. Thats what its for, you know. I'm hoping to get into the interior this winter....without taking it off the road. At least not for more than a couple days at a time.
