Help - fastener sizes needed

I have two different fasteners that I am hoping you all can help me to size.

The first that I need would be the size of the 4 bolts that hold the cover over the brake and master cylinder pistons. I took this off years ago and have no clue where the bolts went.

The second would be the nuts that hold on the manifolds. I took my intake off, and two disappeared into the void of the engine bay. I think they are behind the grill, and I'd rather not disassemble at this point to get to them. I'll just pick up two more if they aren't a funky thread size.

Thanks!

Not funky but brass.

Is there a particular reason they are brass or were the Brits just feel saucy that day during design?

Might have been to keep them from welding themselves to the studs?

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone? (love that movie! Love the reskinned MG in it just as much!)

Any idea on the brake cover bolts? I have a nut for the manifold, so I could take that to the local hardware store and find a nut with the same thread. For the bolts, I don't have the same luck, I have none of them.

I am pretty positive that they (manifold nuts) are common 5/16-24 UNF threads. They are brass probably to minimize rusting (I have used steel as a substitute many times).
The ones for the m/c cover are sheet metal screws(????). Those I can't remember.

Could pull a stud and take it along?

thanks guys. Realistically, the nut on the manifold isn't a huge deal, I can bring one to the store, find a bolt to fit it, and then buy the corresponding sized nut.

The real problem is the cover over the footwell that goes over the pistons of the master cylinders.

This is a WILD stab: Most of the captured nuts and attendant screws on the LBC bodies were #8-32 machine screws IIRC. Get one and try it?

You'll like em in stainless but think they are 1/4 28 SAE fine. In any case they are only a few cents each, get a box along with a box of lock washers. About 5 dollars each.

Depending on what year, 58-66 used 1/4 x 28s in the pedal box.
67-80 used 1/4 x 28s to hold the box in but 10/32 philips head screws to hold the cover on the top of the box. (access plate)
