This will be the least bit of help to the masses of any article ever added to BCF. Been really busy over the last year or so and the victim which has suffered is my Roadster. It got me back by peeing all it’s brake fluid on my new garage floor. Granted the wheel rubbers had been in there over 20 years. After taking all apart and as no movement was seen for a year or so, the shoes were fine. The wheel cylinders looked OK and a few seconds with a hone cleaned it right up.
Now where do you get a couple of kits for a ’49 Triumph. They are the solid kind(cups) and measure 1 and 3/8 inch. They were what is called at the time Static brakes. A spring was between the cups, keeping a small amount of pressure on the shoes. Now for the purpose of this write up. NAPA part # UP 857 and they never worked better and $2 each. So for all the Roadster owners, there you go. Oh, I also used the Valvoline Syn Tech, never had a problem in the cars using any rubbers, others my have.
