Frame off Healey

Hello all,
Thought I would mention my projects. #1- 1957 MGA RD in frame off, #2 - 1966 MGB RD daily driver in dire need of a restoration, and #3 - 1958 Austin Healey 100-6, in frame off.

Actually #3 belongs to my business partner who, after going to San Diego British Car Days two years ago and falling in love with the Healeys displayed there, insisted that 'yours truely' help him find and restore one. Sooo, he bought a very rusted 'Big Healey'. I list the Healey as my one of my projects only because my business partner does not know which end of a hammer to hammer with, ergo, other than his cleaning and painting parts, and paying for new parts, the project is all mine.

Both the '57 'A' and the Healey are progressing very nicely. We will be starting the Healey up sometime next week, the 'A' a month or so from now.

A query... I have been considering using a synthetic oil in this freshly rebuilt 100-6 rather than petroleum based oil. Anyone have a recommendation either way.

ALSO... I am looking for an HD6 float chamber for the FRONT carb. I have a spare rear chamber if anyone wants a swap or ???

Hi Ronzet, Try Nock @ British car specialists in stocton for the carb if others do not have a spare.Pete @ Peters Marina Motors in Venice Ca is another potentially good source for one.--Fwiw---Keoke

Soo OK... I have been going absolutely nuts trying to set these carbs up... I have finally found the genesis of the problem.... Wrong Carbs.... the correct carbs should be HD6s (AUC 914 or AUC 963).. Mine are AUC 6040... ANYBODY know what the @#)(%@)#$* these carbs are??????

As for the oil; you could go synthetic, but considering you'll just be doing annual oil changes due to the lack of miles driven, why bother?

David, Spot on... Although marked with AUC866 they are, in fact, used on TR2-4A and are H series.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif
