Door Panel Differences?

I'm having trouble finding anything but black for interior panels for my '69 B. I'm really in need of biscuit. One supplier told me he had no interior kits for pre-'70 cars because the door panels are different. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif What's different about them? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif Why can't I use a '70 and newer door panel on my car? What modifications would I have to make to my door to fit '70-up panels? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Help!!

I just looked in Clausager, and it looks like MG switched to the recessed door handle in '68. I can't tell, but looks like the '68 panels were screwed on, where as the later panels were attached from behind with plastic prongs. I don't see why later panels wouldn't fit.

But looks like Moss has a panel kit in other than black.

I was looking at some junk doors last night and it appears that the later doors have large holes for a clip to attach the panel to. The '69 doors have just small holes drilled for sheet metal screws to hold the panel in place. Soooo I am assuming that if I drill holes in my door to match the later ones, I too can use the late clip style panels. I hope I'm right. Somebody please correct me if I'm not. Moss's panel kit is over $100. more than the later panel kit in biscuit from the B Hive and I'm on a budget. Plus, I like Gordon. He's close, always helpful, and I get my parts the next day. Oh, and his prices are awfully hard to beat!

It probably would work if the sheet metal in the doors has enough room to drill the new holes. You can probably figure out if there's enough sheet metal to do so by nabbing one of the door panels from the junkers you looked at, or by making a template to check the fit...
