Clutch plate, which way?

The clutch I'm using (Borg and Beck from Moss #190-980) is supposed to be marked as to which side of the plate goes against the flywheel. There's no marking that I can see, however. So which side does go against the flywheel? The difference seems to be that the center of the plate protrudes to one side:

My assumption is that the protruding side is **away** from the flywheel, but I want to be sure. Never installed a clutch before.

I think your assumption is correct.

Since I have to replace my engine, can anyone recommend a brand of clutch/pressure plate to purchase? Is this one a pretty decent setup?

since the tranny is so light, u can use it as an alignment tool assuming u dont have one ....loosely tighten all ur bolts, then line it up....z

Good point Zimmy. But those little alignment tools are handy if you want to only pull the engine to do a clutch job.

I do have one of the alignment tools, and used it to align the clutch disc. We'll see how well I did once I get the transmission ready to go.

You're correct, the raised side goes away from the flywheel. The clutch won't work at all if it goes in the other way.
(an old pilot shaft from a clapped out gearbox makes the best clutch tool)

I did grease that bushing -- the instructions that came with the clutch kit were adamant on that point.
