TR2/3/3A Any experience with Nexen SB02 tires on TR3A?

Has anyone had experience with Nexen SB02 tires on a TR3A? They are 165/80 -15. Are they good tires? Also, I'm wondering if they will fit in the spare tire boot on a 1961 TR3A with commission number TS67906L? I believe I saw previous forums saying that 165's will fit in the spare tire boot of the later TR3A's, but I'd like to be sure the Nexen's will fit before I order all 5 tires. Thanks!

Bob

It is my considered Humble opinion that the Yoko avid 185/65 15 is the ultimate choice for you.You get a maximum amount of tire
on the road with no rubbing, for a very nice price,a tr6 will take 215/65.The aspect ratio makes the diameter nearly identical
to the skinnier tire.....

I have had a set on the road for about 4 years now. I think they're pretty good. Yes, 165s are skinny so you get all the classic handling characteristics of the solid axle TR.

I have a pre-60000 TR3A so a 165 will only fit in the spare compartment if it is deflated. I have a nylon strap looped thru the rim and baby powder sprinklled on both sides to ease it in & out. You should have a bit more room in your 61.

I finally decided on Kuhmo 165/80-15's for my post TS60000 TR3A, and they will NOT fit in the spare tire boot when inflated. They will fit when totally deflated. I now have to decide my path forward for the spare, but I really don't want to be driving around with a deflated spare that I have to worry about inflating if I have a flat.

Bob
