Longbridge BN4 Sidescreens

After getting the carpets wet last weekend at Morgan Hill, and taking most of the week to dry them out, I've decided that I need to spend some time with my sidescreens. So, two questions:

How thick is the Plexiglas/Perspex suppose to be (I never had the original)?

The nuts holding the sidescreens on the car are different for early BN4s than for all the other Healeys. The rear ones are available from the usual sources, but I haven't found a source for the front one, where the bracket goes through the hole in the top of the door. In fact, the usual sources don't even show it in their catalog pictures. They seem to be chromed unobtainium. I found one used one. Anyone know where I can get a second one?

John, the Longbridge cars had unique side curtains and brackets. We have some used ones that will need restored.

hi John- I took a measurement of a leftover piece from my old Longbridge bn4 sidecurtain plexiglass, which I assume is original. It measured just under 1/8" or 3mm thick. It's been a while but you can take old pieces as patterns to a glass shop and have them cut new plexiglass pieces for you. When I did it years ago, the stock they had available was a little thinner than original, so I had to shim them by installing some rubber strips to keep them from rattling in the aluminum frames. I suppose you could also use some modern silicone goo. Also installing a piece of that weatherstrip (the kind that looks like the soft-side of velcro) helped quiet them down and keep the draft out. If you need more measurements let me know.

It depends on the C/E number of your car. The sidescreens changed during the Longbridge production run.
