Took two weeks since I won my car in the auction, but tonight another TR6 is back running. Seemed like a bit of a fight but I didn't plan to give up, need to see how it go's on the road tomorrow.
What did it take?
Rebuilt carbs
Pulled out the tank and shook it around with a bit of gas and a piece of chain inside, either I didn't have any sparks or it was to rich to explode.
Blow a bunch of stuff out of the fuel lines with carb cleaner and air.
Replaced all of the rubber on the fuel system and most of the pollution stuff too.
The last owner had cooked the wires inside the dist. so I replaced the wires, and thankfully I pulled the advance plates to find the advance weights were all stuck, some PB Blaster and a bunch of working the weights back and forth and they are moving nicely now.
I believe the car had been sitting for 4 years and with what is I believe a very low mileage engine I didn't want to start it without first priming the oil system. I pulled the dist and the other plate to get to the pump drive only to say, I don't have anything to drive the pump. But my son says just notch out a socket, so one notched 9mm later the pump was spinning counter clockwise and the oil gauge was reading 75 PSI. Road trip tomorrow!!
