I know I've been given good advice on this before, but let me try again:
I have the receipts from the previous owner's rebuilt in 1993. New Rod Bearings were purchased, and they are .010.
My oil pressure has always been a bit high, like 70 psi at any elevated RPM. Engine hot, idling, the pressure is 50 to 60 psi.
The spec for connecting rod clearance is .0028. I'm replacing all CR bearings because I'm into the engine anyway, and two of the four bearings are a bit scored and could use replacement.
I've used plasti gauge three times now, and I'm definitely showing no more than .0015. That's too small by .0013.
However, the oversized bearing is .010, so I'm wondering if the discrepancy is irrelevant by relative comparison, especially given that my car has for four years been running terrific. Some of you said: "Put it back together and drive it." Still the verdict?
