The 4 bolts that hold it to the front clip are missing, well 3 are. This car was disassembled and now I am rebuilding it.

What year and model is your MG? Not that I think there is any difference, but there may be.
I have two - 74½ MGB-GT, under restoration, and a 74 MGB-GT parts donor.
I'm wrapped up studying for an upcoming 8-hour long exam, so I can't promise a fast turn around, but if I can carve some time out of my schedule, I could pull a pair of bolts, give you length, diameter, and thread pitch.
Wait /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif you still have one of the bolts. My 74.5 has two different lengths, two of each length. Check your bolt against your rack, and find out if yours is the long or short bolt. If it's the long bolt, it will be obviously too long for the shorter hole, and if it's the short bolt, it will be obviously too short for the long hole.
If it's the long bolt, measure how far beyond the rack and pinion mounting lug the bolt extends (the part that goes into the nut). Now put the bolt into the short lug and hold it so the same amount is extending beyond the lug. Measure the "extra" length of bolt shaft between the bolt head and the rack and pinion. The "extra" length is how much shorter your "short" bolts should be than the long bolt you have.
If you have the short bolt, determine how much extends when it's in the right hole. Then place the bolt against the outside of the long mounting lug and measure how much additional length you would need for a long bolt to extend the same amount. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Long story, short /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif you have enough parts to determine which bolt you have, the long or short, and about what length the other should be.
Take that information and your one remaining bolt to the most old-fashioned hardware store in your area and ask them to tell you what the diameter, pitch and grade of your bolt is, then ask for two of each length.
If you have a really friendly person working at the hardware store /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif, just take the rack and pinion and the one bolt to him, explain your dilemma and watch him do the rest.
Hope this helps!
