GT6 Pertronix in a MK1 GT6 ?

Anyone have any experience installing a pertronix unit in an older distributor? The pertronix site lists part #1169 as the correct unit for my car. But it also notes that the distributor number should be "204". My distributor (Delco) has the number "200" stamped on the side.

The issue is that the pertronix mounting plateat one end just sits on top of the vacuum advance tab/post. It doesn't sit flat. Any ideas? I thought of grinding a little away from the pertronix mounting plate but where I would need to grind is right where the little rivet attaches the plate to the pickup unit. The picture below may not show enough detail... sorry

I believe I have the same situation. Years ago I bought an Allison ignition and found the vacuum advance post on the breaker plate was in the way of the pickup's mounting foot. At the time I was lucky enough to be able to find and buy a second breaker plate which I modified to relocate the post a bit. The Allison pickup can be slid all over the place to get them where they need to be so moving the post wasn't an issue. When the Allison unit failed (don't get them wet when you wash your engine bay) I replaced it with a Pertronix.

I remember that my dizzy housing was also marked differently than I expected. I think D200 was the housing for the 4-cylinder distributors. The 204 was for the 6-cylinders... regardless, mine is stamped 200 and it is a 6-cylinder. I can't remember if I put the old breaker plate back in or used the modified one when I put the Pertronix in. However, I do remember there were some issues to overcome. Unfortunately it will be a week before I can take a look at our distributor in the daylight. I dealt with the issue by taking a little material off the "ear" of the front tang that extends from the advance unit. This I deemed as acceptable because the pull on the post of the stator plate really comes from contact with the rear tang. I also filed away just a little on the pertronix plate and it dropped down flat against the distributor stator plate and now slides back and forth nicely. So... I hope to say- problem solved!
