This is my little car. I've had it for years and it's never really been fully restored. Just well taken-care-of and it's always ran. Anyway, I think I am in need of an ignition coil. After running at normal temp for some time it begins to idle real rough. When it's cold it runs great. I guess it could also be a condenser issue. But, the old multimeter says the primary is at 3.5 - 3.7 ohms. The manual said it should be a 4 - 4.4. Does anyone know of cross match number that I could use to get one locally? This coil was surely used on other cars.

thanks for any help....

Try a NAPA autostore for a coil. I believe they have one that crosses over for a Healey. Have you tried to "search this forum" for "coil"?

Try this site for parts info and tecnical info. The coil you need is listed. Here's the link.

Welcome to the Healey forum Norm. I would go for the condensor. A reading on a multimeter having the values you stated are just about right for an original coil. You might want to upgrade and get a lucas sport coil from some of the usual British car parts suppliers.---Fwiw-Keoke

I agree with the little red devil, I had a Sprite doing similar things, messed with everything in the ignition system, turned out to be the condensor. They are cheap and easy to replace (make sure you get all the little wires hooked up as they were), so start there.

If you don't have one get a Moss Motors or Victoria British Catolog, they have all these parts, those two are the big box stores of British Cars parts, you might also want to get one from British Car Specialists (Google any of them they will come up) which is a smaller shop specializing in Healeys.

Victoria British is in Kansas City, if you order from them in the morning they will probably have the parts to you the next day or two in Oklahoma.

The Healey Six site is a great resource for the parts you can still get locally at NAPA and such.

Lastly, welcome to the forum, a great resource, great looking car, I used to have the same model and color.
