Exhaust flange

Every two weeks or so, I have to replace the nuts on the 3 studs that keep the flange snug.
I've tried shakeproof washers, double nuts and 50lbs of torque. Gravity has a way of making these nuts disappear.
Anyway, this flange was the culprit for my engine bay ghost heat (and why I felt sleepy and happy after about 1 hours drive) because it leaked enough with one missing, but not enough for it to sound course, as it does when two drop off.
Just wandered if there is a trick I can play without welding to keep these on?

Got the support bracket that bolts to the tranny under there. I need to tighten up every once in a while all caused by bracket that I don't have. I've even had that loosen up the intake manifold once. Car would not idle below 3,000 rpm all of a sudden due to an air leak. I'd also speculate about worn threads on the bolts on the exhaust manifold.

There I was thinking about furnace putty.
Threadlock and Safety wire are things I'm not familiar with, if you think it'll do some good, I'm all ears.

I'd get some lock washers. Before you do that though, are the bolts old ones? The bolts threads may be worn.

Good suggestion on the all metal self-locking nuts.

I've seen them called Aerotite or Philidas. British Tools and Fasteners carries them. Maybe even Moss since they were originally used on our cars in high heat areas.

Cheers,

Speaking of British Tools, have anyone been able to access their website lately?

Barry, for a 5/16-24 nut, the part number would be MS21042-5. MS21042 is the style of the nut,(see the Aircraft Spruce link I posted), and -5 is the size in sixteenths of an inch.
