100-6 Exhaust Front Mounting Bracket

Would someone please share a photo or diagram of the correct mounting location for the front exhaust mounting bracket (the one that is bolted to the front of the muffler). I purchased a new chassis from Killmartin and it does not have any mounting holes in the chassis for this hanger. I bought a new hanger bracket from Moss. It appears that my two choices are to rotate the hanger so that it faces forward, and I drill into the underside of the frame outrigger where it is cut out for the exhaust pipes, or I rotate it rearward and mount the hanger through the floor. Mounting it through the floor puts the muffler less than an inch from the underside of the floor (not desirable at all in terms of heat transfer). The Moss catalog shows the hanger attached with two screws to the chassis, no nuts. Thanks, Kirby

The front mount has bolts and nuts through the floor - if you went into the outrigger you would have to rely on threads in a very thin piece of steel.
You do want the muffler as high as possible for ground clearance reasons, on mine the muffler is close to touching the heat shield.
As to location, I never found any published info, I checked several cars when restoring mine and found the mounts in the same general location, but not exactly the same - I suggest waiting until you have the engine & exhaust system installed and you are happy with the location of the muffler and tailpipes and then the drill holes for the mount. BTW, I also suggest using elevator bolts inserted from the top (with seam sealer under the heads) and nuts below the hanger because their large diameter heads spread the load and their very low profile makes less bump in the carpet.

Good to know! Thank you. If it was recommended to bolt through the floor, I was leaning towards that type of bolt head. Also thought of installing a small metal plate above and below the floor to help spread the load. My engine and exhaust are already installed in the car, so I am well on my way. Also, mine is a BN4, so there is not a factory heat shield, but I am going to try to construct one. Thank you again, Kirby
