Want to share my experience installing the Phoenix Stainless Steel Sports Full Exhaust System w/manifold sold by Rimmer Brothers. In a nutshell: the fit was perfect.
The exhaust header fit perfectly over the studs and the intake required very minimal material removal to clear the exhaust header. The only real issue is the thickness difference between the intake mounting flange (.5") and the exhaust mounting flange (.3875"). I dug up some .120" thick metal suitable for shims to place under one end of the 'bridge clamps'. I felt these were required to ensure adequate pressure on the exhaust header sealing flange. The balance of the exhaust system was an easy fit. The rear hanger is perhaps a bit of an overkill.
My TR-4 runs C1825 Strombergs with 2H needles (after Joe Curto rebushing). The mixture required ALOT of enrichment before proper running was obtained. The power gained is impressive. Needless to say, I wish I had done this MANY years ago! I'm tempted to destroy my OEM exhaust manifold so that it could never be used again! I hope this in someway helps a TR-4 owner.
