was at a store getting the last of my son's stuff. (He's on the bus for the next three days to go plant tree in northern British Columbia) Anyway, in the Parking Lot of the store is a mid 60's Land Rover Pick Up - Right Hand Drive. So, of course I had to go say hi. Turns out the Landy is the shortest wheelbase there was, short enough that the owner had taken an extra top, reversed it and used it to cover the truck bed. It was a good 20 foot car - with much of the restoration done with old paint and a paint brush.
More to this board, the owner was very British - couldn't quite place the accent - suffice it to say he would pronounce old - awld. In the course of the conversation, I mentioned my Midget and he says, "Oh I used to deliver them to the dealers." Not sure whether in Britain or here (I suspect Britain) but he started to tell me about fields of Midgets all with 8 miles on them, how they were waxed and how the dealers had to remove the wax as part of their prep. It was really wonderful. Neat who you meet.
