Sent back a slew of wrong parts yesterday

Went through a box of all kinds of parts and returned for
credit. Stuff I thought I might need. Had one of them
there realy fancy timng gear things to dial in the cam real
close. Figured if she didn't start and I screwed up, I'd
need all the help I can get (still the fact, by the way.)

Hey, then those U-joints....you know what? Hows 'bout I
just keep an eye on 'em for a while.

Trying to recoupe/recover after a stretch to bring home my
hardtop.

Bought two different oil spin-on adapters: One for oil
cooler -- sent by accident from parts carrier -- and one
regular. Kept them both for a while so's I could pick,
ya know?? Never wanna get stuck wishing you had the
one you didn't -- right?

It felt good cleaning house. Like maybe I'm seeing some
daylight at the end of the tunnel.

It's always best to take your time and sit back and reflect sometimes rather than rushing. Work smarter right not harder!
Hang in there and good luck.

Now, you must really know that once it's gone, sometime soon you'll find that you'll absolutely, positively NEED one ASAP... and none will be available, anywhere, anytime at any price.

It's a natural phenomenon....

Woe-ezzz me (like what the heck's the real spelling????) I know you guys
are sooooo right; but they have been in my way for a long time; and I was blessed with the hard top purchase......but, it wasn't free....nor was it in the budget...oh, excuse me while I suck up some more....

"Yes, Dear, can I get you another cup of coffee? Are your feet warm??
Can I get you your slippers? Yes, I sent the parts back,"

Guess I'll be busy the next few minutes, any way, so I'll have to catch
you guys later.

I'm coming, Nancy.......

Norton: Dang. I'm impatient already. Do you know I ordered the little screw and
washer to seal the back of the head....the darned oil hole thingy, and as of today...
so far anyway, they haven't filled the order. That means it won't be seen until late
in the week or...forbid....after this weekend.

I might have to default on this patience thing. Randall told me that hole is a standard
thread, he thinks, and I could makeshift a oil plug screw, for the time being. Problem
is I really don't know the right size and don't want to screw things up (literally would
be okay, figuratively would suck), cause I ain't so knowledgeable.

Unless, of course, somebody on the Forum actually knows the size of the little devil.
And, I suppose all this talk should be over in the My Car Won't Start thread. I'm trying
to remain calmmmmmmmm, calmmmmmmmm, just stay calmmmmm.

PS: If my engine idle smooths out, you Fellas in Tennessee and ya'll back East
gonna hear me scream.

I think Norton is the right guy to ask about that.

Dennis!! Are you crazy or something??

You can NEVER have to many Triumph parts.
Here's what I carry in my trunk (minimum)just
be able to drive to the grocery store and return.

I've got tons of other stuff at home.

NEVER send back spare Triumph parts.

My absolute minimum emergency breakdown kit:

1 coil
6 rotors
6 condensers
5 sets points
1 dizzy cap
2 dizzy tiny, bitty ground cable wires
2 spark plug wires
2 new spark plugs
1 Hard wired back-up elec fuel pump
2 LF fuel hose and clamps and filter
1 Timing light
1 Electric test meter
1 Elec. test light
set of tools to install all of the above
2 gallons water

Even with all that, I usually breakdown and
have to flatbed home.

Well, if I had the info, I'd run to the hardware store.
Ok --
Get Running. The shop manual lists the part as "HU.0953" which translates in my Standard Triumph Hardware Catalog to: Hex head setscrew, 3/8" U.N.C. x 3/8" long. The copper washer (aluminum or even fiber would probably work too) should be at the hardware store too.

Cheez, guys, do I have to do everything?

Quick peek at TRF on-line catalog shows they supply HU804 for that bolt.
https://www.zeni.net/trf/TR6bluebook/18.php

Which the Standard Hardware catalogue gives as 5/16" UNC, 1/2" long. You should be able to find one of those (plus a 5/16" copper washer) at Home Depot or Ace without too much trouble (and not have to mess with the nut I mentioned before). If they don't have the copper washer, try Harbor Freight (who have a handy assortment of them).

Super Coool, guys. Thanks. I'm gonna play hookie and go buy the little
devil, then I'm gonna, then I'm gonna.....can't say....too excited.

I have no, none, zip appreciation for what HU804 is. I've never had a clue.
Evidently, it's very valuable lesson I could learn, but have to do that when
I get back and like after the sun go down or sumpun....

Thanks so much guys, and special kudos to you, Don, for actually removing the part. If you were anywhere near here, I'd polish it up on the ole
wire wheel fer ya.

On my way......out for now....

Oh, yeah, and Tinster....yer killing me, yer killing me.

Dang: Opps, insurance is demanding my immediate attention on a boat
repair claim, but after that......

Don't worry, now that it is out will be replaced by a SS jobby

The big box boys don't have it as a 1/2" length, so I got a SS 3/4" and cut it down.
