transmission compatibility

Bill was nice enough to give me a transmission out of a Morris Minor. It has a different bell housing, but the transmission looks the same as my bugeye transmission. I will take it apart to try and get some numbers, but in the meantime does anyone know if it is comptible with a stock bugeye?

The input cover is different, the bell housing is the same.

Case is indeed different. All works from the reverse side. I have one as well I have been trying to give away but guess it will go in the trash.

I think I am going to take it apart just out of curiosity to look at some of the part numbers. I don't feel comfortable taking it apart to the point that it is not useful to anyone else if it does not work for my car. I forgot to take it out of the car before my wife left for work, so I guess I will have to wait until next week to check things out.

This one has clutch yoke holes on both sides, with the correct input housing it works in a Spridget too.

Oh, that is different as well Bill. Wonder what it was for.

I assume the innards are the same for a smooth case in all cases. sigh Or maybe not as vehicles would be different. No clue.

Guys, There seems to be some confusion. Externally, the Morris Minor transmission is the same as the Spridget, whether it is a smooth case or a rib case. The fork is different because the Morris has mechanical linkage rather than hydraulic, like all Spridgets have. As a result of the mechanical linkage, the Morris used a different front cover so that the fork can be oriented for right or left hand drive. With Spridgets all being hydraulic, the fork is always on the right.

There are different gear sets but that makes no difference as far as installation in either car.
