I’ve been reading a lot about alternator conversions on TR3s and will probably do it to my car when this generator bites the dust. My question is about the amp gauge. There have been many discussions about replacing it or making modifications to it so here is my question. Sense the Amp gauge measures the difference between what is going into the battery and what is coming out why would any alternator charge 30 amps more than what is being used? I could see this possibly if the battery was flat dead but not during normal use. Where is my faulty thinking?
