When adjusting fuel mixture on the carbs of a BJ7, do you turn the jet adjusting nut clockwise to lean the mixture? The manual says nothing more than start by backing it off two turns then adjust from that point. Mac

Mac,

I believe you have type HS6 carbs on your BJ7.Turn the nut up, ccw as viewed from the top, to lean the mixture.

Turn it down, cw as viewed from the top, to richen the mixture.

To start, turn it ccw til completely up & back it off (lower) two turns cw.

Ideally you have the piston out so that you can look down at the jet bridge & see the jet moving up or down as you turn it. You would adjust the jet up until it was just flush with the bridge as a starting point & then lower it two turns.

Thanks Dave. You would think that the shop manual, even the drivers hand book, would mention this but they don't or at least I couldn't find it. Mac

Mac,
That info & a lot more is in my "SU Workshop Manual" It covers SU carbs & fuel pumps. It is available from M--s Motors & several other vendors.
